While I don’t usually (or ever) spend my day going to a nail salon, I do love a good nail color! I am always in awe of the amazing nail designs and nail art people are capable of, and attempt (keyword- attempt!) to play around with designs at home. Unfortunately, when I started going through products that add unnecessary toxicity to my home, nail polish made the list of things to be tossed. I had recently, however found some cute, non-toxic, water-based  polish at the local toy store for use during pregnancy and decided to see just how good non-toxic nail polish could get! Here’s what I found (Not in any specific order) :

  1. Piggy Paint

    Buy On Amazon

Pros: -Low Odor     -Fun, Bright Colors    -Cheap!     -Quick Drying     -Perfect for the youngest of nail artists, as it is water-based with zero-solvents.

Cons: -Chips quickly, comes off in 1-2 days, although if ingested by sucking on fingers it is not harmful. (Both Karma Kids and Ella + Mia stay on longer and are “7-free,” but they are not water-based and both have a much stronger nail-polish odor.)

  2. ADRIANNE K

    Buy On Amazon

Pros: -Low Odor    -Fun and Sophisticated Colors     -Quick Drying     -“7-free” (No formaldehyde, DBP, formaldehyde resin, toluene, xylene, BPA, parabens, or camphor)     -Chip resistant, lasts for about a week!        -Vegan and Cruelty Free     -Made in USA

Cons: -A bit more spendy     -Can take a few coats to cover the nail     -If your nails aren’t perfectly clean and dry it will peel and chip much faster

  3. Black Dahlia Lacquer

    Buy On Amazon

Pros: -Hand mixed in small batches    -Vibrant Colors    -Quick Drying     -“5-Free” (No DBP, toluene, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin or camphor)     -Chip resistant, lasts for a week!     -Vegan and Cruelty Free

Cons: -Stronger Odor     – A bit more spendy     -Colors can vary (due to being hand mixed in small batches)
